Job Description
Incumbent serves as the Chief of the Branch of Cultural Anthropology of the Tribal Relations and American Cultures program and the Bureau Cultural Anthropologist for the national cultural anthropology program. Oversees projects, special studies, publications, and exhibits, issuance of guidelines and standards, and development of long-range goals for the Branch of Cultural Anthropology. Provides expert advice and guidance on cultural anthropology and in consultation and under the direction of the Chief Tribal Relations and American Cultures Programs develops policies, standards, and processes for these programs. Oversees and coordinates National Park Service ethnographic studies and other studies for NPS units and partnership undertakings. Provides technical assistance in the identification, evaluation, and documentation of resources traditionally important to Native American, African American, Hispanic, Asian American, Euro-American and other ethnic and occupationally defined groups and communities associated with units of the National Park System, or being considered for inclusion in the System. Provides professional expertise in the application of the theories, scientific knowledge, concepts, and methods of cultural anthropology to address or resolve park-community relationships and problems with native, ethnic and occupational groups traditionally associated with NPS resources and management.
